Can anyone tell me which L1's were allocated to Scottish Sheds, and when they were withdrawn?

There were never any L1s allocated to Scottish sheds on a permanent basis. Those built by NBL were delivered via Eastfield shed and in fact 67733/4/9/40/5/6 were allocated to Eastfield but they were prohibited from working the Glasgow low level lines so they were sent to Stratford in exchange for V1 and V3 class locos. Thereafter none of the class ever worked in Scotland on a permanent basis.

My 1950 shedbook indicates that a few were allocated in North East England...Middlesborough, Darlington and Hull Botanic Gardens. Would the Hull ones have worked Hornsea and Withernsea branches?

Yes, they were used on the Withernsea, Hornsea branches and to Beverley, Bridlington, Goole, Stainforth and Hatfield.

All were transferred to Middlesborough in 1956.

The onslaught of DMUs saw an end to many of their activities.

The Botanic L1's also worked a stopping train to Doncaster, leaving a few minutes after the pullman.
Also worked to Selby then double headed a Selby loco to Bridlington( I mentioned in a previous thread) Also a short lived scheduled run to Pontefract, Baghill.
L1 was also used on the heavily laden workmans train to Brough for the then Blackburn Aircraft Company. I believe the loco then shunted Paragon yard on return.
