Can anyone help me identify trains travelling Hull Paragon to Leeds Crossgates in 1950's? Would really appreciate loco numbers etc. Thanks Vintager

In the 1950's the local trains between Hull and Leeds were hauled by 53B (Hull Botanic Gardens) and 50B( Leeds Neville Hill) B1's and D49's and 50C (Selby) D49's and D20's in the early 50's.The occasional Leeds and Selby B16 also put in an appearance. I think all these local services were switched to DMU'S on January 1st 1959.
As locos were often moved between sheds I suggest your best bet in order to identIfy particular loco numbers is to obtain a copy of an ABC locoshed book for say the mid 50's and look up the relevant classes and allocations for 50B,50C and 53B.

Don't forget the Neville Hill A3's.

1 dont recall seeing A3's on the Hull-Leeds route in the 1950's.They did however start to appear now and again on the daily Hull-Leeds-Liverpool(3) and Liverpool-Leeds-Hull(2) expresses, usually on a Saturday morning in 1960/61.The only stops between Leeds and Hull were Selby and Brough. In the 1950's,if memory serves me correctly, these expresses were always hauled by 53B and 50B B1's-61010 and 61215 seemed to be the most regularly used.
I suspect the A3's started appearing on these trains because they were being replaced on expresses out of Leeds by Peak class diesels. The whole thing came to end when the 6 car Trans Pennine DMU'S took over all the Hull-Liverpool workings in,I think,1962 or 1963.

Sorry 50C - they were regulars - certainly in the late 1950's.
As you say Saturday 9am Liverpool off Hull was the favourite but that sometimes had a Neville Hill B1 - "Pronghorn" appeared often. Late afternoon arrival from Liverpool also could produce a Leeds A3.
I certainly saw all the Neville Hill A3's at Hull Paragon on the Saturday morning Liverpool more than once!

Point taken-memory failure on my part I suspect.

I think that the Trans Pennines took over a little earlier - 1960 or 61.

I remember seeing A3s in Paragon on the Leeds trains in the late '50s ( 60086 - Gainsborough being a definite), I think I saw the odd V2 on those trains also.
