The LNER Encyclopedia
Discussion and reference site for the London North Eastern Railway
Who agrees with 1306 having a name, i know its been named Mayflower for a long time since it was preserved but who AGREES
AND WHO DOESNT
Me i would like to see it without the name as it was never a named loco, the name came off another B1.
This locomotive was based in my hometown of Hull for most of it's working life, during that time it carried no name. If I had my way it would be nameless, and neither would it be in LNER livery as it never wore it in service.
If i had it my way i would
-Run 1306 as 61306 BR livery (2 or more years)
-Run it in BR as the original MAYFLOWER (2 or more years)
-Run 1306 in LNER (just to please LNER fans, NOT ME)
At least them name are tasteful. Dare I mention Dual Personallities (Howarts Castle)
Other preservation names include 45407 The Lanchishire Fusilier and 48151 The Guage O Guild
