Hello to one and all,
This is a request to anybody who could help me with the above please. I'm building a model of a G5 in S7 and i'm really finding it difficult to find pictures of inside the cab. The engine i'm building is 67337 which is a North eastern engine based at Hull Botanic Gardens. It's fitted with vacum operated push pull gear and I need help to corretly model the controls please. Does anyone have any pictures or can describe the locations of equipment, steam brake etc....
Many thanks in advance Mick

There was a good article with photos in the NERA Journal some time ago. I made copies of that so that somewhere I will have the year and issue. Back copies are probably available from the NERA.
Just checked - it was Vol 30 February 1991 No.121. I think that you will find all you need there.

No problem. The photos include some taken in the scrapyard at Darlington and show the innards of the cab fully exposed. The steam brake cylinder was under the left footplatejust ahead of cab front.

Arthur,
Mick has scanned the article you mentioned and sent it through. The engine on the scrap line, 67290, is fitted with a combined lever and screw reverser. Do you know if all the class were thus fitted. I only ask as I have already fitted just a lever reverser working from the draw in An Illistrated history of NER Locomotives by Ken Hoole. If I have to change it then so be it but I'd rather not if you know what I mean,
Best regards Mick

The GA that I have shows a conventional lever reverse. I know that some were fitted with the combined lever/screw but I don't know which they were. I suggest you read the aritcle in the NERA Express in detail, it may provide some clues. If my memory is correct the drawing in Ken Hoole's book is the same (or similar) to the one I have.
The LNER 'Green books' may give a further clue. However I think this volume was one of the first and lacked the detail of later volumes.

Thanks Arthur,
I'll have a good read of the NERA article, as for the green book you're right in what you say. It lacks that detail, lots about westo pumps and the differences in regional allocation. Yeadon's doesn't mention this either,
Thanks for your help with this,
Best regards Mick
