I want to build a Claud Hamilton D16 4-4-0 locomotive from brass in Gauge 3, possibly in live steam. Has anyone got any dimensioned drawings I can purchase or perhaps lead me to a source?

Thanks,

Jim

The John Gardner drawings from the GERS might provide a good deal of information, not just for the class but also for a raft of standard fittings etc., plus there's an Information Sheet of drawings of various parts of the original Claud taken from a technical text book. Details on the GERS website in the Sales List, downloadable here:

http://www.gersociety.org.uk/index.php? ... &Itemid=11

See section 9 on page 4 onwards items L40 and L41, L26, L72 for the loco, L19 for the tender and L27 onwards for the various details drawings. These are also all available on a CD reduced to A4 size but the image can be enlarged and scaled to suit - JG CD on p13.

See section 5 on page 2 item M305 for the drawings from the technical text book.

An excellent series of articles by Lyn Brooks with CAD drawings, illustrating the evolution and all the variations, also appeared in recent Journals but these are restricted to members for reasons of copyright.

Finally copies of original drawings are available through the NRM, see N117 (plus 4 supplements) on section 3 on page 1.

The HMRS are presently cataloguing their very large collection of drawings. They do list a sectional side view drawing of what is described as a 4-4-0 GER Express Loco. See: http://www.hmrs.org.uk/drawings/drawinginfo.php?id=1058.

There are more drawings being identified and listed all the time. If you contact the Drawings Services Manager through the HMRS web site he may be able to help you,
