I'm not getting involved in the livery debate RE terminology (!!!), but I thought I'd post up my video, with the footage/photographs and sound recordings of 60163 taken today - click the link below for the video:

Nice to see her back in one piece. Not sure whether or not the colour "works." I'll reserve judgement till I see her in the flesh.

I cannot see the original inflammatory remark, save in the quotation. Am I missing a so called "froth" somewhere, or has some censorship or voluntary deletion of contributions occurred?

On the matter of censorship, I'm happier than ever to confine myself to LNER Forum these days, as I see that the chief of thought-police is at work more zealously than ever on that other railway modelling website that everybody seems to use. Remarks there are now deleted simply for being "speculative". Whatever next..........

I agree with Atlantics comments, this site is virtually self policing so very little moderation is required. Thats why i stick with this site. Good debate, information and comment.

Yes I zapped it, but it is still in the quote. I sent a warning, and the question was whether to keep it or delete it. I don't like making these decisions and they're bound to annoy someone as being either too lenient or too strict, so don't force them on me!

I've no problem with criticisms of youtube - just the request could have been a lot more polite. (this isn't a free pass on long off-topic rants either)

I really appreciate the effort you went to link your video to u-tube and your subsequently post of this great photo. Bit hard for me to do what you have done.

I’m with Atlantic 3279 on his views about another Forum. It’s now somewhat difficult to be frank and post an opposing view without being firstly castigated by the old guard and then censored.

Having been a Moderator of a somewhat volatile motorsport website for many years, I also understand Richard’s position 100%.

Being a LNER devote, I certainly feel comfortable with this site as opposed to all others. Well done guys.

I agree with steve o ,thanks for posting pictures of 60163. I certainly like the new livery , it's as we all remember the A1s surely , can't wait to see it.

I was educated at the School Of Hard Knocks and I would personally take reference to any of my 3,500 photos on Flickr as "rubbish" with a pinch of salt!
For what it's worth, my opinion is that both loco and photo look damned fine....

For what its worth, I think it was great that someone went to the trouble of downloading (uploading?) the vid and photo and I would feel the same, even if I didn't like it. As it is, I thought the video and also the photo were great.

It's also much as I remember them, except they were a little more 'weathered' in those days long ago!

I saw her at the NRM a couple of weeks ago, and I think she looked absolutly stunning. I worked on the A1s from 1958 until they were withdrawn, and it is how I remember them. I cant remember them any other colour, she was a bit cleaner than some I was on. It brought back a lot of happy memories.

Is there any colour (apart from perhaps bright pink!) that she wouldn't look good in? Handsome engine. Personally I prefer the LNER green but I'm interested to see what the blue livery looks like.

If the photo above was taken from video footage, I don't think anyone's cause to complain, it looks fine to me and as good as many people would manage with a stills camera. As other posters have said, thankyou for taking time and trouble to post the picture and link.

I'm old enough to remember the A1's gracing the front covers of railway books as the latest thing in British railway circles. A heck of a lot of smoke has passed under the bridge since then but, for me, these locos are still the ultimate in Pacific design. Thanks Simierski for posting the picture.
