Lovely bit of footage, though, Bryan. What was the vehicle at the back of the rake?

GNR invalid saloon 3087, giner, built 1909. Ended up with BR on Norwich Division in departmental use as DE 320042, in blue and grey livery, according to my little book.giner wrote:Lovely bit of footage, though, Bryan. What was the vehicle at the back of the rake?
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!

Re: K1 and Teaks
It was interesting to note that the engine had been turned, I presume that the loco and tender would have been split to achieve this. The original Pickering TT was 50' and I expect that the current one must be the same size. Not sure how long a V2 is (loco 33' 8" plus tender 13' 6" makes 47' 2" plus the gap in between).

No the turntable is 60' and is the second turntable from the NRM York. The pit was enlargened to take it.

Don't think I did, either, but I did see an ambulance car at Welwyn GC sometime in the late 50s, unless I am getting delirious. Sure it was in SR green as well.giner wrote:Thanks for that, hq1. I thought that the Pickering turntable was in pieces on site for a long time before the pit was dug out and they just fitted it straight into the old pit, I didn't know where it originally came from. The NYMR could do with a second TT at Grosmont (or even Whitby). There used to be a 42' TT at Grosmont many moons ago & Whitby had a 60' TT.
