MANNA
G'Day Gents
I want to find a bit more about ME.....well .....Manna , the engine,I know I was born in December 1924 and given the illustrious name 'Manna' but evidently royalty comes first, so I was renamed 'Prince of Wales' at this time I was only a A1, but my nameplates were probably consigned to some dusty cupboard for a couple of years until I was born anew in Febuary 1926 as a nice new A3, after leading a hectic life? I was withdrawn in October 1964.
I have one claim to fame as I was built as both an A1 and a A3, ( Grand Parade was only re-built !!) and possibly another as I was also renamed.
What I would also like to know is , where was I shedded during my life and my history etc, I sound like an orphan looking for my roots All help accepted, thanks gents.

Re: MANNA
G'day Gents
Thanks for that, I seem to have spent all of my life in the North East (still can't understand Geordie...sorry) So I take it that I would have towed a GN or non corridor tender.
I am thinking that my main area of work would have been to Scotland, York and Leeds, I suppose that I would have got to London only rarely, I have seen a few pictures of myself, but not south of York.
I like the idea of me being in black with the number 563, would this be with gold letters and numbers or plain yellow and NE on the tender???
Thanks

Re: MANNA
All tenders non corridor, GN when built, new tender streamlined 2/1946, new tender non streamlined 3/1946, GN tender 4/1962.
Manna may not have carried 563, some never received these numbers.
I will keep digging!

Re: MANNA
He's seen family snaps from our facebook page. Funny how he wasnt one of the HTN/GHD pacifics transferred to TWD for the last couple of years with the onset of dieselisation, he must have been in need of an overhaul so was withdrawn.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
Re: MANNA
Seen at Grantham many times, sometimes straight through...but more usually taken off...manna wrote:G'day Gents...I suppose that I would have got to London only rarely, I have seen a few pictures of myself, but not south of York...
Seemed to be one of the more regular Heaton loco's.
Have also seen numerous pics on workings in the London suburbs.
Cheers

I've picked out my victim, funnily enough 'Grand Parade' ! about time it was rebuilt she's starting to look a bit tired.
The only other thing I would like to know is what type of dome she was carrying in 1946, round or banjo type thanks
