NBR/LNER Floor Cloth Wagon
Hi I have recent acquired a 7mm kit for an NBR/LNER Floor Cloth Wagon (Linoleum) I understand from a fellow member that there were only 4 of these wagons produced and they were largely employed for delivery of Linoleum to Cinemas which were just starting to boom. I am looking for further information drawings or photos that will help me to finish it as accurate as my skills and knowledge will allow.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: NBR/LNER Floor Cloth Wagon
This wagon (should) feature in at least these places:-
[1] Wagons of the LNER, Vol. No. 1 - North British, J Hooper, Irwell Press. Good photo and history caption.
[2] Wagons of the LNER, Tatlow, I suspect that the wagon is covered in the volume dealing with the NBR.
[3] Design Aspects of NBR Wagons, published privately and not easy to come by. A copy is held in the Winchester Railway Collection. This provides the only drawing of which I am aware.
regards, Graham

Re: NBR/LNER Floor Cloth Wagon
Much to my surprise, the NBR Floor Cloth Wagon does not seem to feature in the "NBR Wagons - Design Aspects" book... or at least in the copy which I was able to reference through our local library. As this book has never let me down whenever I have looked previously for details of NBR wagons there is the possibility that some pages might be missing from the library copy.
Can anyone tell me if the Lino wagon is in any of the NBR "Design Aspects" volumes and, if so, in which section?
Thank you, Graham Beare

Re: NBR/LNER Floor Cloth Wagon
We had a yard foreman who couldn't spell Linoleum and when these wagons came into the yard he would write down "parrafin wax Cloth wagon"
I might not know how to spell parrafin so I am not knocking him, just his description amused me.

Re: NBR/LNER Floor Cloth Wagon
Thanks to all for the contributions. I do love all the little anecdotes that this type of enquiry brings out.
Midlandman of this parish was telling me that apparently Ian Kirk's (of coach kit fame) Grandad was the gent who developed the process that keeps the pattern visible as the lino wears.
Thanks again.

Have you got the Hooper book, Rob? If not you're welcome to borrow mine.
