LNER Coronation Observation Car

Last year I obtained a couple of photos from someone (can't remember who - & I apologise for that) showing a rebuild of an LNER Coronation Observation Car. The caption was Carnforth. The inference was that it is happening now. I can't find anything on the Net about this rebuild. Can anyone tell me if such a rebuild is being carried out and by whom?

Both ex Coronation observation cars are still in existence. One has been renovated in its 1950s state and is operational where?

The other is being restored at Carnforth into its original beaver tail state.

Most subjects, models and techniques covered in this thread are now listed in various categories on page1

Dec. 2018: Almost all images that disappeared from my own thread following loss of free remote hosting are now restored.

Might be wrong, but I think its being renovated at Barrow Hill, not Carnforth.

Edit: Yep, according to VCT carriage survey, 1729 was moved from carnforth to Barrow Hill.

At the Battlefield Line in Leicestershire, along with B1 1306 'Mayflower'

Which one of the two observation cars is the one that was based at the Lochty private railway on the East coast of Scotland for many years? I would assume that this is the one currently undergoing restoration?

I hope it might be described by a proper, established, historically dictionary-listed term such as restored, and definitely not some gimmicky, lately invented, revolting non-word such as "retroed"

Were these observation cars the ones used on the West HIghland Line in the 1950's?

Yes the rebuilt cars were used on that line and on a Southern Pullman(Devon Belle) if i remember correctly.

The Devon Belle did not use the ex-Coronation cars.

However, the ex-Coronation cars were used by BR prior to rebuilding. Here is one at an unknown location, but believed to be in Scotland:

Callander and Oban line has been suggested, but this is unconfirmed.

Funnily enough I know quite a lot about putting the right end back on 1729 at Barrowhill ;)

Sirs-Try the Carriage department on the NYMR the gentleman there explained to me how the solebar was cut at a slope and the flanges welded onto the inside-(I think)-as he was doing the job. I know now how to build the solebar on my 7mm model to allow for the body to turn in towards at the viewing end.....photo to follow.
Incidently I built the -or building- the Beaver tail first then realised the train was the Silver one!!! Sacre Bleur.
Definitly in line now for a potebtial platform edge white line fellah.
