Only one that turned out good was the interior. I got a few close ups of the number, wheelset, and corridor of them (will upload if you want), but people got in the way every time I tried getting a full length view of the coaches. I really wanted to get a back view of the last coach with it's corridor front, but it's too close to the wall to get a good photo.

I also tried getting a full view of the engine and both coaches. Once again, lack of space ruined the shot. Sorry to dissapoint... I'm not happy about it, either.

Hello Wavey.
I visited Green Bay in 1989 and saw the engine and coaches as BR had painted them, but in very weatherbeaten condition. They were repainted for the Eisenhower centenary and towed to Kansas. I saw them and photographed the train as it stopped in Chicago for the night. At that time the teak coaches were painted the same green as the engine, alas. Otherwise the coaches are in very good condition. You can just see the end of a coach in the last photo before the Pullman surprise photo.

Forward!

Yes I believe it is a Cuneo - it looks remarkably like a poster I had on the wall as a child. The mouse is running along between the rails at the bottom of the picture, if it is the same one.

Flying Scotsman on the Forth Bridge by Terence Cuneo it was painted circa 1969 with Scotsman working up to the bridge to pose for TC.

Yes, they were painted a while back. I doubt they'll return the motion to whatever colour it was before. The museum likes the A4 the way it is now.

I agree, it looks awful, send No. 8 back here and we'll restore it properly for you. It was the first A4 I ever saw in LNER Blue.

Did you see it when it was named "Golden Shuttle", by chance? And if anyone here is really intending to get No. 8 back, there is no way to get No. 8 out of the museum, really. There are only two shed doors (to let temporary rolling stock go in and out), and neither are for the track No. 8's on.

Call me old school, but I didn't think it was good form to ask for gifts back, after you've given them!

I agree with Richard but i wouldnt say no if our transatlantic cousins loaned it to us for eight years say three years for restoration then 5 years running then back to the states in full working order with 5 years left on her boiler ticket. Oh and Dominion of Canada would be welcome on the same terms.
