They are TIFF images. Some of them you might have to save as a file and then use a viewer (I'm finding Firefox will display some as images and others I have to save).

TIFF images are common in desktop publishing, so most viewers will read them. Eg. Windows' Fax Viewer.
It is also one of those formats where every vendor has their own interpretation of the standard - but these look to be okay.

Post-war A1 proposals

Post by Saint Johnstoun »

This is the first of three images showing the proposed design with full streamlining similar to the A4. It was the LNER board's intention to have these locomotives streamlined but by the time they came to be built BR were in control and that part of the design was deleted.

The final, rather odd idea.

Not quite a proposal but the ugly A1 with ACFI feedwater heater. 2576.

This drawing took a very long time to finish!

Thanks so much for these, Saint Johnstoun - you certainly have a rare talent. No doubt Bert Spencer and Co. would have found a drawing board for you in the Plant had you been around then!

Think I'll skip on the streamlined C1s, though....
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!
