Class N2 69494 at Colchester 1950s

I have been collecting photos of Colchester for my 4mm model railway for many years

I have a photo clearly taken at Colchester as the station name is in view, of N2 69494 and a B2 (?).

However, 69494 was not one of the class allocated to the GE Section and according to Yeadon was always a King's Cross or Hatfield engine, albeit it spent a short time in 1951 at Grantham.

Only thought I have is that it was overhauled at Stratford in 1954 and 1955 and Stratford "stole " due to loco shortage or a test run?

Any thoughts how come the engine was at Colchester?

Many thanks
Paul

It's news to me that any N2s were allocated to the GE Section.

Can you or anyone else enlighten us please?

During the period 1951 to 1956 (see Yeadon for specific dates):

69592/51/9/66/90 to Parkeston
69550/5/8 to Colchester - hence my interest.

There were also at Ipswich eg 69561.

RCTS confirms 69502/51/2/61/6 to work Harwich branch and also confirms running in turns, but I'm surprised (should I be?) as far as Colchester. Outside my area of interest, but N2 were used on the GE Section in 1929 and 1930s, apparently.

Hi Kudo once saw non-condensing 69502 @ the buffers in Liverpool St empty stock working mid'50's pretty sure it was a 30A loco for awhile only time I saw an N2, but saw a few N1's @Stratford for works visits,Mr Hardy said 30A allocation didn't mean much, locos having long periods @ associated area sheds with the 30 area code.

I think I knew Stratford scrapped a few N1s, if not N2s, but was completely unaware of these N2 wanderings. Thanks for the info.
