Wagon i.d.

In 1952 a wagon left Inverkeilor station yard with 50 sacks of barley on board on it's way to Oswestry, the number was E1Y6151, any one able to identify what type of wagon this would have been?

That number is incorrect - the wagon would have been 'Ennnnnn'. Maybe a 7?

Sheeted open or a van would be a guess based on the load - I'm sure someone will have the time to look through Tatlow and see what they can find.

Do you have the label for this load?

I read that as E176151, and the label says it's a van, which narrows it down a bit, I will look at my numbers.

Right found my numbers, lucky I had a copy at work.
If my interpretation of the number is correct then the wagon lies in the number series 175829 to 176328, a LNER covered goods van to Dia 25,
part of an order of 500 built in 1934.

Thanks Dave, I am contemplating making a model of Inverkeilor station in this period in OO scale and thought it would be nice to include this van in the yard.

Although there aren't any other 7s to compare, I agree with the interpretation - if that helps!

Those sorts of u-topped 7s seem more common in the past.

That says Diagram 23, not 25. I'm also fairly certain that there were nowhere near 500 built. 50 seems nearer the mark.

The buik grain wagons were originally built to carry imported grain from Hull. I'd be surprised if Inverkellor ever had the requisite facilities and volume of traffic for their use. I stand to be corrected.

Also, that kit's a pig.

Make sure it has a steel underframe (not wooden) and 10' wheelbase (not 9') and is fitted with the vacuum brake - all as Dave's photograph.
