LNER 12 inch Locomotive Transfer "N"

For my sins I am still trying to document the style of LNER transfers applied to their locomotives. The letter that has me stumped is the "N".
My issue is that I cannot determine the correct form for the white highlight shown circled. Is it straight as in the first image or does it taper as shown in the second? For comparison the 4 1/2" buffer beam transfer is as shown here I have tried refering to original photographs (it is not possible to use preserved locomotives as a reference - every one is different) but none of my photo references show the area clear enough to be decisive. Can anyone help and provide definitive evidence one way or the other?
Was the same style for the highlight used on the 7 1/2 transfers?
Thanks
