A screen capture from the British Councils little film 'Country Town' of 1943. It's Boston and I'm wondering what the L5 designates on the buffer beam. Am I right in thinking it was the LNER's load category?
The film is available to view on their website, by the way, and worth watching

Looks like a K2 t0 me.
left hand of the buffer beam seems to say that and the square steam pipes are a good guide

Good morning all
The K2 was load group five in the LNER Southern Area Freight train classification.

Yes EN the NER had a similar system, but the book that explains it is on loan to BB.
