Good Evening All

A while back I picked up a print at an exhibition stand showing Q6 63371 passing Chaytors Bank, Gateshead, and in the background is a (North) Eastern region Mobile Workshop train. There are 2 coaches visible - a 7 door brake, and a 10 door ?third, neither of the numbers are crisp enough to read and, nearest the camera, DE320169. Presumably the other coaches are around this number. Has anyone further information on origins etc?

I don't want to infringe anyone's copyright by attaching a copy and, as far as I'm aware, it's not on photographic site.

There are no details for DE320169 on the departmentals.com website as it must be an early withdrawal. I think Peter Hall has some listings of departmental stock that may give the original capital stock number although from what he has told me in the past information is sketchy on stock that was withdrawn prior to 1970.

I had tried the Departmentals site a while ago - there are a lot of gaps!

I've had some further thoughts on the origins of these coaches. I don't know how many coaches there were in the train (only 2 3/4 visible), but possible candidates are GE Diagram 542 BT(7), built Stratford 1922-3, and GE Diagram 428 T(10) or GE Diagram 300 S(10) again built at Stratford 1922-3, all 54' x 8'10". There weren't that many of these built, so a trip to the NRM to have a browse through the Carriage registers might help to elucidate their history.

As far as I know, there weren't many 10 compartment coaches built by LNER constituents - GC anyone?
