Bittern's plaque?

Hi Blackout

60027 was named, in 1946, after HMS Merlin which was a Royal Navy shore establishment in Scotland. Something lurking at the back of my mind says it was Fleet Air Arm but, if anyone knows better, please tell me

60027 like all other LNER "bird" names were named after the birds themselves (wasn't Gresley a very keen birdwatcher?) But I do believe the plaque was presented by HMS Merlin.
