The timber effect was black against cream while the bricks and mortar effect was produced in carmine against cream. A vertical grained wood effect was used for the service doors.

Thanks Green Nigel,

You've confirmed what I thought were the likely colours, but never having seen a colour picture I couldn't be sure particularly about the background colour for the half-timbering.

That just leaves the tricky question of the colours for the White Horse pub sign. At least the colour of the horse is obvious enough!

You can get these from Markits.

Thanks Bill.

Sadly no direct use for 2mm, but worth knowing about.

How about scanning, photographing or photocopying them and the reducing them in size?.

Good idea. Scanning and reproducing on decal paper should work well enough for 2mil. I wouldn't be depriving Markits of a sale so just the copyright implications to double check.

Thanks,

Why are they "Bulleid Tavern Cars"? Fits the image! And were they really around in the '30s?

PS. Isn't that Maggie Thatcher on the left?

Not sure why that shows up as a Bill Bedford quote when the Hansard reference and Jim Callaghan were mentioned by me in a post on this thread.

The Tavern Cars and their matching trailers came out in 1949. They are often referred to as Bulleid because they were part of the design family of SR stock to which his name is usually attributed.
