Heres a new Idea, leave it in bits and use it as spares for Mallard, lol. If they could put money into everything else like 4771 it would still be allowed to run at 75mph. Of they had thought about it they would have put 4472 into the muesum and left it there to draw joe public into York rather than the useual Enthusiasts who are getting sick of the damn thing. If this was done money could go into expanding the railtour area with 4771 and 30777 and while Iam on the NRM has anyone seen the fantisy national collection in SR as well as the word on Bullieds, the NRM owns 2 GNR atlantics so leave on as a static and have the other one for the next SR appeat (TO MAINLINE STANDARD) as was done with 3440 although the atlantic could proderbly handle 8 over the ECML at 60 easily or even a simmlar rake over S and C. Another loco that the same could be done to is 1000.
The weather here is Baltic but so were the tank engines

Dont get me wrong I dont dislike BR. They made some very nice Locos which look great in BR colours obviosly. But leave the group locos in group colours. I dont even mind a bit of a mix, ok we have a few A4s so 4489(60010) is in BR green I can live with that. Am I right in saying 4498 is in BR blue. If so I can even live with that for a while, as has been said there arn't many BR blues about. But dont think of touching Mallards paint, or removing her side panels. Simally there is only one 4472. If you want to know what she would look like BR then go and look at 60532. So please please let her be the way her creator wanted her, In LNER colours without smoke deflector. She may well be the most known steam engine on the planet. If she is that is becuse people RECOGNISE her.
If it hasn't got an engine, I'm not interested.

then your discounting her working life. trains should not be kept in just one colour other wise future generations wont get an idea of how things looked through-out their working lives!
