There's one of 2400 at Cowton which may answer your question. Also the one of the same loco at KX with the dynamometer car - looks like it's about to depart, so probably in forward gear.
The weight is not visible in photos of engines at rest.
Many thanks. Well spotted: the Cowton image nails it. The KX image shows it clearly, but one wouldn’t know what the engine was about to do or had just done.

The loco has the ? pyrometer? on the smoke box and it is in NER livery, which was as it ran in the trials against the A1, running into KX in July 1923. The signals look like somersaults. At the back end, someone is hanging onto the outside of the cab and there is some ?piping on the tender front. There also appears to be some sort of cover over much of the cab roof.
