Further information may be forthcoming from Chris Nettleton of the Gresley Society who are in the process of restoring vehicle 1852 to 1938 condition.

Here is a closer view of the leading Brake Van (BV to the LNER for Brake Van Vestibuled):JASd17 wrote: The formation is the same as that given in Banks and Carter for 1936, with the Diagram 45 steel-panelled BG leading.

Having had a look around the answer to your question, about the all-steel BG on the south end of the "Flying Scotsman" for nearly ten years (and a good many other ECML expresses in LNER and BR days) may be found in the following books and website:
- Gresley's Coaches, Michael Harris, 1973
- LNER Carriages, Michael Harris, repr.1995 and 2011
- LNER Standard Gresley Carriages, Michael Harris, 1998
- LNER Passenger Trains and Formations, Steve Banks and Clive Carter, 2013
