thought Yeadon's Named Trains of the LNER would include those details, but cannot find them as the result of a quick read.

Try googling Coupe News. It is hosted on the SEMG (Southern E Mail Group) website and is a freely available online monthly (PDF) e-newsletter covering all Pullman events past and present, not just those on the SR. Each edition has a wealth of information and there will be something in there somewhere in a past edition on what you want.

Beware - these excellent newsletters are very addictive!

Re Andy W's note above the link to Coupe News is :- http://www.semgonline.com/coach/coupe/index.html

You will see a special edition for the Tess Tyne Pullman which details formations for the 1950's on.... another source is the Anthony Ford, Pullman volumes by Noodle Books, there are, from memory, formations of the services using the 1928 Steel Cars as an appendix.

Egads! I hope that's not the SR mob's interpretation of our TTP. I'm having visions of an entire consist of Pullmans all named Tess departing the Cross.

That looks useful.

Is there a site which explains which coaches were matchboarded, and which were K-type steel-panelled?

I was looking through some old notes last night and saw the following;

K class cars built in 1928 for Queen of Scots - formed into two 8 car rakes; 1st Kitchen - Thelma, Phyllis. 1st Parlour - Sheila, Agatha. 3rd Kitchen - 67, 69, 70,71. 3rd Parlour - 73, 74, 75, 76. 3rd Brake - 77, 78, 79, 80.

I don't know where I picked this up from - unfortunately I didn't make a note at the time so treat with caution.

Hi 2502,
While researching this train for my own N gauge model, I came across the following information.
All steel K type of 1928 built specifically for Queen of Scots;-
First parlour cars Agatha and Sheila
First kitchen cars Belinda, Nilar, Phyllis and Thelma
Third class parlour cars 73, 74, 75, 76
Third class brake cars 77, 78, 79, 80

Source, Pullman profile no 3. 'The all steel K type cars'. Antony M Ford.

Formation examples
No 1 train TC77, TC71, TC73, Thelma, Sheila, TC76, TC70, TC78.
No 2 train TC79, TC67, TC75, Phyllis, Agatha, TC74, TC69, TC80.

Source, The history of British railway cariages 1900-1953. David Jenkinson.

Hope this proves useful,
Mike
