What happened to 2848/61648 Arsenal nameplate?

Post by Dan Hill »

When Arsenal played at Highbury one of the nameplates and the football (or replicas) were on display in the Booking Office but does anyone know what happened to them? Most of the items within the stadium were auctioned off when it closed for redevelopment but don't remember the nameplate and football being part of the auction lot.

There was an article on the locomotive in one of last seasons programmes but didn't mention what happened to the plate and football just that it was displayed at Highbury Booking Office. I did the Emirates Stadium tour last year (sadly never went on the Highbury one) but didn't see it and not seen any photos of it there.

Anybody know? I'm not sure if the booking office survives as part of the Highbury Square development so not sure if its still there.

A shame its not displayed like the Norwich City plate above the players Tunnel at Carrow Road or the Middlesbrough replica at the Riverside Stadium. Or at least above the exit to the tunnel.

Often wondered about that myself, Dan. If you're in the vicinity and next time you're round there, a few questions in the right places might yield an answer. Be prepared for some blank stares, though.
