Next month I shall be taking delivery of a second hand Bachy K3. This will be repainted and run on Pilmoor at Ormesby Hall. Having an SEF kit in the pile, I thought I might use some of the alternative cab sides and make it into one of the Darlington builds with the lower cab windows. Pilmoor is set about 1938/9 and Yeadon tells me that two of these locos were not rebuilt with higher windows until after war broke out - but he doesn't say which ones. Can anyone with the Greenie help out with numbers?
Thanks.

Re: K3 cab style query
As I was browsing that book again recently I had rough idea of where to look.
It states that 33, 36, 38, 46, 52 and 53 which were allocated to the NE area were altered "by about 1944-46" when Donny finally took over their maintenance. I believe these locos all had the very low windows.
If the Finecast cabs are faithful to scale I presume you'll have to add just under 2mm to the rear edges of the firebox (as I did on fitting a scratchbuilt GN cab) as the GN and NE cabs should be 5" 7/8 less in length than the GS cab provided by Bachmann.

Re: K3 cab style query
Excellent, thanks for that, Graeme. I'll be back to that, hopefully this side of Christmas. I'm up at Newcastle in November so I'll get hold of a Dave Alexander flared top tender body while I'm there.
