Early LNER nameplate Font

Post by silverfox »

Does anyone know if you can get this font anywhere?
To clarify, its the one used on early plates..A3/B17/K2 (with 'square' 'O's and 'D's rather than the later Gill Sans as used on A4/1/2

Thanks

It was not a recognised printer's font. The first recognised font was Gill Sans which was adopted gradually in the mid 30s.

Already been discussed, and answered, here:

and when you, yourself, asked earlier this year:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=7064

When answers were given by exactly the same people... :?

Yes, silverfox: A follow-up question would have been better on the original thread.

Many of these typefaces/fonts were not standard, and probably weren't standardised between Works either.
It is quite a bit of work to digitise one, but you could create your own...
(font systems such as Metafont are in the public domain or are freely available)
