Very evocative . What a waste of a line. I was a young volunteer at Dinting around that time.

Ay up!
Many thanks. Interesting to see just how badly those sparkies had pounded the track into new and exciting shapes!
Interestingly, our nerdbox has a high-powered fan fitted so it provided a likely soundtrack to the sparkies.

It shows an interesting variety of workings, with Harwich boat trains, a 40 which seems to be substituting for an electric on the Sheffield - Manchester service, and a few parcels trains, but virtually no goods traffic.
I wonder if it was all filmed at weekends?

My sentiments exactly, the only thing that could point to being shot through the week is the Industrial diesel (a Fowler I think) seen at either Neepsend Power Station or British Tissues, Oughtibridge. I dont think either location saw much weekend use.strang steel wrote:It shows an interesting variety of workings, with Harwich boat trains, a 40 which seems to be substituting for an electric on the Sheffield - Manchester service, and a few parcels trains, but virtually no goods traffic.

Yes, I think the video filmed from the train was during the week, but shots from the lineside probably not.
It is nice to see the usual 1960s makeup of the Harwich boat train, with a BG in the centre next to the Gresley buffet.

No 52A I'm not on the picture. I'm afraid I was not one for getting my hands that dirty.
