Lamps for a Snowplough

What style of lamp would be appropriate for a headlamp on my 1909 North Eastern Railway Snowplough?
Does anyone know a supplier of replica versions of these lamps?

I suspect that the fitting onto the lamp bracket is also unusual in that it would be at 90 degrees to the normal.
In the attached photo I have fitted the adapter brackets for the lamps and as can be seen these indicate that a side fitting lamp would be needed.
By coincidence the lamps on 901 behind are side fitting. Unfortunately they are secured on to the bracket.

This is the best I can do , scanned from a Ken Hoole book. I am fairly sure that one of the locomotives at Darlington North Road has a similar lamp - have you checked?

The type I would be looking for are actually on the photo.
Unfortunately they are fitted to 901. behind the plough.
I think the NRM might miss them.

Dear Sir,
NER loco headlamps would be used ont ploughs. Walter Hodgson made a scale size headlamp as in his J72 w/m kit I guess you could try DJH.
When going to go into deep snow it was prudent to take the lamps off and ofcourse the guard always travelled in the rear plough. This is one case even upto the 1980s where you propelled a loose coupled vehicle with no one riding in it.

P S When I worked the ploughs by then the loco lamps fitted lamp irons to the rear of the lamps not the sides. Would modified GWR (spit) lamps be acceptable? J B.

I think that would not be acceptable.
GW on a NER Vehicle no way.

Anyway I am still looking for FULL SIZE lamps of a correct style for NER period post 1909.

I used to have an NER head or tail lamp in my collection and I'll try to find the photo. The only think is that on that photo I posted it looks as though it may have had a pie crust top?

Failing that, give the chap a bell - he has made lamps for 6229 in the NRM.
