Q6 NYMR

Post by Bryan »

With the talk elsewhere of models that should be in production and mention of the Q6s.
I thought I would remind you what they look like.
Taken yesterday while I was working on the line.

A real pleasure to see 63395 in full steam, let's hope that her J27 counter-part 65894 can match her on the NYMR again, some time soon.

Excellent, evocative photo, thank you Bryan.

Many years ago whilst guarding a train out of Grosmont which I think had either "Antwerp" or "Meteor" on the front, The Q6/T2 banked us up to Goathland. Unusually, the brake van was at the rear of the train. I well remember the music that the Q6 played that afternoon, to stand just a few feet from the chimney was marvellous. A pity that the french pin was in the rear door!

Are there any plans to restore the Q7 to running again?

Hi Bryan

If you 'hit' the forum pages on the Hornby site you will see that I have been banging on about models of Q6, J21, J27, G5 for several months. Also LNER pre-grouping in general, since almost everything available is Post-grouping. This is fine except that the pre-grouping identifies the area, whereas the post-grouping doesn't. (Same with the Southern railway/region)

I'll carry on, more so since it appears to upset some people!!!

As a matter of interest I started, but never finished (story of my life) turning an M7 into a G5. Probably wouldn't be accurate, but close....

According to the latest NELPG newsletter, the Q6 is in a 'temporary LNER' livery, before going to NER when possible. Has anyone seen an image of the Q6 in it's current LNER colours? There isn't one in the magazine, and can't find one online. Very much looking forward to seeing it in NER colours though

G'Day Gents.

Very nice picture of the Q6, and a healthy depth of ballast, just before the loco, if this was a 60's picture I would say that the line was about to close, as the fence by the bridge has been painted

Certainly no problem here - here's hoping it won't be too long until it's back in action
