Hi 52D
Not yet as we are dismantling the current one....the new one is going to be 14ft by 4ft MPD, taking aspects of North Eastern Sheds, so it's somewhat fictional but is based sort of on York and Darlington.
So hence I'm trying to see if I can getaway with a K2

K2s worked up from Scotland as well, I have a picture of one at 52D. Regretably no details of the working.
Colwick K3s certainley worked as far north as Tweedmouth from the inshore oil fields round Nottinghamshire taking crude up to Pumpherston nr Livingstone for refining. Engines and crew changed at Tweedmouth, these workings started in WW2 and lasted well into the 1950s later power was usually V2. I dont know the routing of these trains.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Hmmmm very interesting.....good enough excuse for me
J11's also would be a possibility I'm guessing too, as has been mentioned before, working the GCR through Pontefract...

I was train spotting in York on an almost daily basis and I have retained my records for 1958. My spotting was done after school and on a weekend, so I will have missed a lot during the day.
I recorded D11 62664 Princess Mary on 23rd May 1958. She was quite resplendant, having been especially polished up for an enthusiasts special.
04s were occasional visitors. I have no record of any J11s.
As regards K2s, I saw K2 61760 from 41A Darnall at York on 29th May 1958.
I have seen photographs of a J11 and J6 both heading south from York to Doncaster through Selby.
The J11 is 64397 taken in the early 50's with what looks like 35A shed plate.I have no specific date for the phot0 but the loco was based at 35A from Feb 1954 to Aug 1954.
The J6 is 64264 taken in September 1954 with a 40A shed plate. My data shows, however, that this loco was at 36A from 1948 to 1958 when it was withdrawn. Can anyone please enlighten me on the allocation anomaly?
Most interesting thread. I assume you have trawled through Railway Observers of the period! Many available from VCT store at Ingrow on KWVR. I pick them randomly (50p a copy) more for rare Scottish workings, but thought I'd take a look at NER rarities for your period. Only looked at June 1950 and I quote..."York-on 24:5:50, D9s 62301/12 and A5 69828 were at the shed here, all in steam and probably en route to Darlington Works."
Just a taste, but at least they were in steam...Good luck, Jim

Hi Jim
I hadn't looked at the Railway Observer, but that is very helpful!
