Apart from it pulling the last train on the Easingwold line on 27.12.57, has anyone got any info please on the allocation of 68698 from its construction at Darlington Works in 1914 as NER 2181 and subsequently as LNER 8698 to its scrapping in the early 1960's at Darlington Works?
I would also be interested in any photos of the engine which I understand may have been allocated to Darlington and Sunderland sheds at some time during its career. I have already ordered a print of the image held by the Transport Treasury taken on 27.12.57.
Thanks in advance.
