Woodcock workshop grey paint job

I understand the first Woodcock A4 ran for a short time in workshop grey before being repainted garter blue and renamed Dominion of Canada.I am looking for information on how the black nose was painted.Was it like the standard design or all over black back to the first boiler band or something else.Also the colour of the numbers,letters and boiler bands.I would like to make a model of it.

Only have a couple of pictures, neither are very clear.
Workshop Grey a pale shade perhaps Grey primer would suit?
It appears the Smokebox is Black back to the first boilerband as most of the Green A4's , the Loco is fully lined In White.
Green Wheels
White ?? Numbers and Letters unshaded.
Corridor Tender which is beaded and streamilne cover on water filler.

Cant say I would try one very difficult to build !!!!

I have attached a fairly rare photo of Woodcock taken at the Plant in May 1937 together with 2552.

My source at the Plant when researching in the 60s,

who was in the paintshop at the time as a young man, gives the finish as matt grey, like an undercoat, with no black front end but with black and white lining to loco and tender. The motion covers had a single white line round them and the numbers were white. Most imporantly if you are going to model her at this time, the wheels were loco green and lined as usual.

The smokebox area to the first Boiler Band looks darker in that photo as well. Perhaps a darker Grey as the Silver A4's which used different shades ?? Look forward to the build pictures

There used to be a chap who exhibited a stand with every A4 in every livery they ever carried, over 300 of them IIRC. Most of those were Hornby Dublo shells. Not part of his collection, is it?

The E-bay item is a complete figment of someone's fertile imagination.

I still maintain that 4489 was grey all over, except for the loco wheels, and simple black and white lining.

Careful scrutiny of the photos I have (four in number) convince me that the description given to me was correct. If the smokebox had been black then logically the motion cover would also have been black. Similarly the photo which I posted reveals that the graduation in grey from smokox to first cladding is minimal and atributable to lighting on two slightly angle different surfaces.

The characters are hand painted with no shading. Even the nameplate has been painted grey and may even have been wooden patterns!

The Yeadon pictures and the single RCTS picture show the difference in shades between the Boiler and the Smokebox areas as does the picture posted above.
I repeat probably a Darker Grey shade as per Silver Fox et al but taken back to the first boiler band .
I intended for the Hornby ebay item to be taken seriously it even has a shed name on the cab sides I think he has mistaken the white lining on the valance as Stainless Steel lining as the Commonwealth A4's.
Yeadon has a superb picture of the rear of Woodcock's tender the top and cab roof appear to be the same colour as the body. There apears to be black/white on the boiler bands as that appears darker then the Smokebox colour.
Nameplate appears in the RCTS picture as Black background with either White or Silver Lettering / outline border
