As part of my efforts to simulate the former Malton & Driffield Railway using the Trainz 2009 Rail Simulator I'd like to assemble a Royal Train to represent the one which visited Sledmere & Fimber 6th July 1948 carrying the King and Queen to visit Sir Richard Sykes of Sledmere Hall. I have the A2 loco 60534 Irish Elegance which hauled the train (in green livery - is that right?) but I'm not sure about the rolling stock. There's a useful Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Royal_Train which details some of the stock which could be used at the time and it's current whereabouts but apart from that I'm in the dark. The Yorkshire Wolds Railway have some photos of the train here
http://www.yorkshirewoldsrailway.org.uk ... r-station/ but they are only partial views.
Would the train have a fixed makeup or would it vary? LNER based or using stock from the originating area? Livery.
Thanks in advance for any info.

The photos show the 1941 LMS built stock.PinzaC55 wrote:As part of my efforts to simulate the former Malton & Driffield Railway using the Trainz 2009 Rail Simulator I'd like to assemble a Royal Train to represent the one which visited Sledmere & Fimber 6th July 1948 carrying the King and Queen to visit Sir Richard Sykes of Sledmere Hall. Re: Royal Train 1948
Ah thanks for that ! I would guess at purple for the Royal train - is that a good guess?
Re: Royal Train 1948
The colour is claret. It is I think in the Precision range. Certainly not purple. The colour was introuced for Royal transport use by the Duke of Edinborough who decreed that it should be used for rail and road vehicles wherever possible. That was form the early 1950s.
