J72 Coupling rods
I produce a set of coupling rods for a J72 which have the knuckle joint in front of the middle crank pin. A customer has complained that this is wrong and the knuckle should be behind the pin. All the clear photos I have seen show the knuckle as I have drawn it.
Does any one have a good photo of a J72 with the knuckle behind the crank pin?

All the photographs I have looked at show the joint in front of the centre crank pin.
There is an unclear shot in fig 22 of Part 8B of the Green Bibles which may look like it is behind, but a further Casserley photo of the same loco 8680, taken at the same time in 1947, clearly shows the knuckle-joint in front. All the pictures in K Hoole's NER Locomotives as above.

I reckon you're right on the evidence produced, Bill.
If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!
Re: J72 Coupling rods
All my photos of J72s (albeit mostly the BR built version) show the knuckle to be in front of the centre crank pin.
This is an LNER build 68736 at Gateshead. It was still sporting a 50A shedplate.
