A4 Whistle

Post by Flying Scotsman »

Hi everybody,

I was wondering if anyone could describe the sound of an A4 pacific whistle as an onomatopoeia?
My reason for asking this is that I've always wondered what an A4 whistle sounds like on paper.

Thanks everybody... :D

Don't think that is possible. What is wrong with C, F and A flat (2nd inversion of F minor - 2nd octave)?

Well since from 1 loco you can get different sounds of the whistle, it's very difficult. (See here, 30 seconds in.)

The closest I can get is "PHOOOOOOOOOO-"

Thanks, Majormagna I think that's the best representation I heard so far. :)

How about the "Whoooooo" towards the end of the Beachboys' "Good Vibrations"? - Get the sheet music!

I can, however, onomatapoeise(?) a Deltic: ZyuuZyuuZyuu etc (I think you could do this better using the Cyrillic Alphabet; ЦЦЦЦ).

I can get the tissue paper but when you have a bald head where do you get two combs from. Wouldn't WOOOO-EEE sound better? The first note on ABBAS Dancing Queen seems acceptable.
We could be guarranteed to upset West """""""""" men if we did an---short high then and soft gentle low note--I think it is making refferance to someones posterior. (That little round thing at the rear end.) As Les Dawson said once he thought they had a one eyed cat then realised it was walking backwards!....nuf sed. Don't want to upset the monke-sorry West """"""""""men.

whence this little entachment has been faithfully recolected upon parchment, the said document can the be transformed into small rectangular peices of disposable tissue then transfered to a small room and if you are lucky you may once again here the mellow melody of the chime, as it fades into the distance !
