E70551E
Hello, I wonder if someone could help me please? I remember seeing a Gresley full brake/ parcel van at Andover junction in the mid 60s, and took a note of its number - E70551E- mainly in recognition of the fact that it was an unusual sight in the area. I would now like to build a 7mm model of it, so would someone please confirm the diagram? From that, I can peruse the manufacturers to see whether a kit exists. Thank you very much.

Re: E70551E
Dia. 260. One of two built at Doncaster in 1938. Angle-trussed underframe and with ducket on one side. You will not find a kit for this slightly odd type in that it was to a strange width of 8' 11.5". However in a model that's not going to be significant and there are two kits available in 7mm scale:
Ian Kirk, although you might have to ask Ian to include the correct style of underframe, Gresley rather than Fox bogies and a ducket. Ian's kits are comprised entirely of injection moulded parts for doors and panels that need to be assembled into the sides, moulded ends, gangways, bogies and underframe components, with a vac-formed roof. Not super-detailed but can be made to look reasonable. There's a construction review on the Gauge O Guild website for a 7 compartment Corridor First
Alternatively Peter Dobson (Newbold Models) does a D245 etched kit that will also suit. Apart from the slight difference in width this Diagram was for those fitted with racks for pigeon baskets. Peter also does etched underframes, bogies and detailing parts (if ordered at the same time) for Kirk kits (Ian will sell you just the body parts you require on request).
