We tend to forget that there were trains from Newcastle to Plymouth, which used both ex NER/LNER carriages
and GWR.

Were these not complete sets though, rather than mixed formations? I'd always understood that on services like this, two trains were provided, one by each company.

The whole ensemble left Huill at 11:05 and is timetabled to pass through Doncaster at 12:00 midday, presumably then passing into a different Area. i was wrong about it working two trips over the weekend; it appears in the timetable for Sunday 23rd because it didn't return to Hull until 03:54 on the Sunday morning, having returned to the Area via Doncaster at 02:58.

For the return from KX, the following vehicles were added: Saloons 2202 and 21778 and an Open Third.

So it was a theatre trip?

Saloon 2202 was a D.82 Clerestory, and 21778 was a D.16 six-wheeler, so both were definitely swingers.

Come to think of it, all the stock, apart from the restaurant car, could have been ex-NER corridor stock. These were displaced to secondary workings by the early 30s.
