did ex-LNER J15s evr get up north to scotland or nearby under br ownership?

No. The only one which did had been sold out of service to a colliery.

Hi, not strictly relevant,to the question, but I have seen a picture of two(2)J15's in a private scrap metal contractor's yard with rail access in East London, I suppose 30(A) works unable to process locos quickly enough, hence the farming out to private contractors for breaking.jj( private ownership of the scrapping variety?)
