As a post script to this question, I have got a copy of the East Coast Main Line volume 8 book delivered today, which has a great photo of the station and a fair bit of the yard, complete with a near brand new 16 ton mineral wagon present. I intend to see if I can get some pictures of what's left including the signal box.
