Hello Paul,
Happy to report the sheep population of these isles pretty stable over the last few years (about 44 million I think currently) but well down on the 70 million I was taught at school in the late 40s/early 50s. Later on we had a thing called the 'sheep retention' scheme (a political 'sop' to farmers who were the main supporters of the National - our Conservative if you like - government) which meant that probably more lamb was produced and ended up on your plates (and at a cheaper price)at Christmas time. Mind you back then, we were buying Zephyrs, Consuls, Prefects and Anglias, Morris Oxfords, Austin Cambridges, Vauxhall Velox's etc etc (which was viewed as a 'quid pro quo' - your cars, our lamb) - am I the only one who recalls those halcyon days?
End of history lesson, back to the Restaurant triplet kit.
