J39 cab details

Post by boeing757 »

Hi
I am trying to detail the cab of my 7mm J39. The back head is no problem but I cannot find any details for the rest, namely seats(if fitted) sandboxes/controls and the floor.
Can anyone help? I suppose at a push an image of the Tower model would suffice but I prefer to refer to the real thing.
Thanks
Bob

Hi 62716
Thanks for your speedy reply.
I already have that image but can't really work out the details I'm after due to the angle of the shot. Are those seats or sand boxes and is the whole floor steel as shown? I am sure at least part of the floor would be planked, it seems to be a feature of most cabs.
Nonetheless I am grateful for your help.

You question whether seats were even fitted.

Have you seen the Bachmann cab? - depending on how much credence you attach to its realism it would appear to be more of a bench than a seat!

Hope these help!

Hi
Thanks again.
This is where the use of models as reference is risky. You have posted images of the same subject from separate sources but there are differences between them, which one is correct?
It's a real shame neither a J38 or J39 made it to preservation, they were a very significant proportion of LNER freight locos and I believe the J38 was the last Gresley class in service.
