What do people think of a search facility for the website?
I'm currently evaluating "search this site" options for my commercial websites, and it struck me that this site could also do with one. After all, it is far bigger than the commercial sites!
For lner.info, I would probably choose the free Google search box. This carries some advertising.

Jon,
Yes although yours is the only reply so far, I'm going to go forward with adding search.
The current plan is to replace the "Loco Database" entry on the main contents with a "Search" entry.
Search will work on both the static pages and the (publically viewable) forum pages. The forum support requires an extra add-on to improve the quality of Google's search results. I could do this with v2, but I would be just duplicating work - hence I'm going to upgrade the forums to v3 first.
